I am 67.i met a 64 year old man 2 years ago.
We started going to counselling 6months into the relationship. The counsellors said that he had an attachment disorder steming from his early childhood.I wasn't convinced as this was based on assumption that his schizophrenic mother did not give him the love and affection needed to make him feel safe.
I worked with adults with disabilities some years ago and felt that his diagnosed was wrong.
Yesterday we saw him again and I voiced my opinion..stating that my partner didn't like to sit opposite me because he didn't like to be looked at,but preferred to sit beside or at an angle to me.
He always adjusted the sound on my TV.more base less treble,he did the same in my car.
He does not like to be touched.
There were other things that I had noticed..
End result,yes....high functioning autistic...
